With new and continued support from community members and key sponsors like Global Experience Specialists, Henry Schein, Planmeca USA, Sota Imaging, Western Dental, The Dentists Insurance Company and The Dentists Service Company, CDA Cares is now gearing up for its 13th volunteer dental event April 27-28 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Since it began in 2012, CDA Cares has provided over $19.25 million in dental care to more than 23,500 people — tremendous numbers made possible thanks to the support of generous sponsors and thousands of volunteers.
Planmeca USA — support from the whole team
Stepping up in a big way for the Anaheim clinic is new CDA Cares sponsor Planmeca USA. As the largest privately held company in the field of dental equipment, Planmeca’s product range includes dental units, panoramic and intraoral X-rays, digital 3D imaging X-ray systems, as well as CAD/CAM products and software solutions.
“Planmeca believes in corporate citizenship and has put a program together where we have 2-D X-rays available for events like this to help the underserved,” said Robin Gathman, tradeshow and special events manager for Planmeca USA. “Supporting these programs is important to our whole team, from the techs that make sure the machines are ready to the reps who are at the events helping.”
Planmeca has committed to providing three state-of-the-art Panorex machines.
“For Planmeca, it’s important to give back. We understand that dental health is key to all-around health — and that with good oral health, people can take steps to better themselves,” said Gathman.
Henry Schein — a passion for the cause
Henry Schein has been helping to support CDA Cares on a generous level and in multiple capacities for many years, including providing volunteer staff members at the two-day clinics.
“As an organization, we have not only donated supplies and technical services to assist in treatment, we have also had numerous employees volunteer their personal time,” said Burke Spielmann, Henry Schein zone general manager for Hawaii and California. “That personal experience truly shows our employees what a tremendously positive impact dentistry can have on a person’s health and their quality of life.”
The company’s involvement in CDA Cares aligns with the objectives of Henry Schein Cares, the global corporate social responsibility program of Henry Schein Dental.
“Each event further strengthens the passion we have for the cause. To be a part of such an amazing effort and see the impact it makes is so rewarding,” said Spielmann. “It feels great to give back and see the results firsthand.”
Western Dental — longtime CDA Cares supporter
Western Dental, a longtime supporter of CDA Cares, is also committed to the CDA Foundation’s efforts through volunteer dental clinics, contributing $50,000, a volunteer workforce and equipment and supplies for the events.
With a mission to “provide access to affordable, high-quality care,” it’s no surprise that Western Dental remains a top sponsor year after year. Headquartered in Orange, Calif., Western Dental is passionate about supporting these events and is particularly excited for the upcoming CDA Cares event in its neighboring city of Anaheim.
“Western Dental has an almost century-long history of serving the underserved in our now 160 offices located throughout California. We are members of those communities and we feel it’s important to give back,” said John Luther, DDS, chief dental officer of Western Dental. “We’re very excited for CDA Cares in Anaheim, especially since it’s in our own backyard. This one is particularly meaningful to us. So many Californians today are desperately in need of dental care to get out of pain, look for jobs and regain their oral health. This is an opportunity for dentists and their teams to really help those seeking care.”
With plans for ongoing CDA Cares involvement, the Anaheim clinic is the ninth CDA Cares event that Western Dental has sponsored.
