Our History

Western Dental has been around for over 100 years, making it one of the oldest and most experienced dental and oral health organization in the nation. We began in Los Angeles with a single office and have grown to about 250 dental offices and orthodontic clinics throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, and affiliated offices in Texas under the Brident Dental & Orthodontics name.

The Company traces its history back to 1903, when Dr. Curtis Beauchamp (pronounced Bee-chum) saw a need to provide quality dental care at affordable prices. His son, Dr. Robert F. Beauchamp, followed in his footsteps, and in the 1930s, expanded the practice to include several more locations.

True pioneers in what was once known as "credit dentistry," both father and son became known for offering low cost quality dental care and credit terms to people who could not afford the high fees that were typically associated with dental care.

Since then, Western Dental has continued to build and grow by providing quality dental care to all people – a core value central to the company’s philosophy. We are proud of our continued strong and steady growth over the years. We are proud to offer affordable dental plans for groups and individuals to help people and their families access the dental care they need.  Western Dental now serves over 1 million patients each year (including more Medi-Cal Dental patients than any other provider), and we are the #1 provider of Orthodontic care in the U.S.*

Today we employ over 4,500 dental professionals and support teams, including over 900 dentists, hygienists and a full range of specialists – periodontists, endodontists, oral surgeons, and dental implant specialists.  Each Western Dental office is equipped with state-of-the-art computer-assisted equipment such as digital x-rays, panoramic imaging equipment for orthodontics, digital scanners, interactive kiosks, and patient educational videos on iPads – enhancing treatment options, reducing lab turnaround time, and enabling faster and simpler patient check-ins.

It’s all part of our commitment to provide complete, quality care, all in one place.

*Reported in the 2017 IBIS World Industry Report as the national industry leader in volume of orthodontic care provided to patients
