ORANGE, Calif., August 25, 2017 – Western Dental, one of the nation’s largest dental providers, announced today it has acquired eight offices of Children’s Dental Group across California.

Children’s Dental Group is headquartered in La Palma, Calif. Six of the offices are located in the Southern California communities of Carson, Eagle Rock, Norwalk, Santa Ana, South Gate and Whittier. The other two offices are located in Northern California – San Jose and Sunnyvale.

“At Western Dental, we are striving to expand high quality dental care to more families in the markets we serve,” said Daniel D. Crowley, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Western Dental. “This latest acquisition adds to our strong presence in Southern California and also increases our visibility in the San Jose area. We look forward to continuing and expanding the excellent dental care that patients were accustomed to receiving from the Children’s Dental Group.”

Children’s Dental Group consists primarily of pediatric and orthodontics practices, but also serves adult patients. Its offices have a long-standing commitment to serve Denti-Cal patients, part of the Medi-Cal public insurance program that provides health care benefits for more than 13 million low-income individuals and families in California. Western Dental has historically been a leading provider of services to the Denti-Cal program.

Children’s Dental Group was founded more than 30 years ago by Dr. Scott T. Jacks with the goal of providing access to comprehensive dental care for children in under-served communities. He opened the first office in South Gate in 1983 and expanded to other locations over the years.

Western Dental will expand orthodontic services in these offices and upgrade the in-office technology.

“We want to continue Dr. Jacks’ legacy of providing quality, affordable care to patients, which is central to our business philosophy,” said Dr. John Luther, Chief Dental Officer for Western Dental. “We welcome the Children’s Dental Group to our family and look forward to building upon an already strong group of offices.”

Western Dental is an integrated, full-service dental and orthodontics organization that offers convenient, affordable, high-quality care to patients of all ages and incomes. It is the largest orthodontics provider in California and Arizona, and an orthodontics leader in Texas through its affiliate, Brident Dental.
